H.E Dr. Matar Al Neyadi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy of the United Arab Emirates

Clean energy plays an instrumental and strategic role to guarantee the continued and sustainable growth of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). I look forward to the participation of the UAE Ministry of Energy at the 2017 Sustainable Energy & Technology Asia (SETA) to share the lessons learned following the launch of the UAE 2050 Energy Strategy, which will witness a significant growth of clean energy in our nation.

The launch of the 2050 Energy Strategy culminates years of careful planning and stakeholder engagement to set the right policies and systems to encourage the growth of clean energy in the UAE. Following its approval by the UAE leadership in January 2017, the UAE Ministry of Energy is working with energy stakeholders across the UAE and internationally to enact an ambitious energy transformation. More than US$ 163 billion will be invested to consolidate the UAE’s clean energy sector and to increase energy consumption efficiency by 40%. Just as SETA, we share a vision of a low-carbon society, powered by clean energy and SMART technology. SETA 2017 provides the right platform for the UAE Ministry of Energy to engage with clean energy stakeholders from around the world, and we look forward to the interactions with its delegates for the continued improvement of the global energy sector.
