Brief Profile:
With over 25 years of experience in project development, consulting, funds mobilization and capacity building in the energy and the environment space, Alan Dale Gonzales has demonstrated extensive successes in providing direct advisory functions to government agencies, multilateral/international institutions, and private enterprises. His specialization is in the areas of low carbon solutions and technologies, project financing, business development and investment structuring; capacity building and training; public-private partnerships; project design and formulation, monitoring and evaluation, feasibility studies and due diligence activities covering areas related to renewable energy (RE) and energy efficiency (EE); rural electrification; cogeneration and decentralized energy systems; climate change and greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation; and biofuels.
As a sustainable energy project developer and adviser with working experience in more than 30 countries, Alan Dale is at the forefront of the development, evaluation, financing and implementation of clean energy and sustainable development projects, having been involved in more than 100 clean energy projects with capacities ranging from 10 kWe to 100 MWe. He has conducted numerous pre-feasibility and bankable full feasibility studies, originated projects, provided advice on deal structuring and investment decisions, and sourced equity investors and debt financing for clients.
Currently, as the Executive Director of Full Advantage in Thailand, Alan Dale oversees a lean but highly competent team of multi-disciplinary and multi-national professionals, develops business strategies and coordinates the identification, marketing, and development of business opportunities and services to clients. Alan Dale is the Team Leader of a consortium that was selected to be the local operator of the USAID-funded Private Financing Advisory Network in Asia (PFAN-Asia), a program that supports clean projects by bridging the gap between good projects and willing investors.
As the former Chief Business Adviser and Team Leader of the EC-ASEAN COGEN Programme, an economic cooperation and public-private partnership that lasted for 15 years promoting clean energy projects throughout Southeast Asia, Alan Dale provided leadership to the team of regional experts. He supported project developers on financial, economic, and commercial aspects of their projects, advised companies on key elements to consider in forming business partnerships (i.e., joint ventures, licensing, etc.) and identified key commercial and financial risks for projects and advised on measures to mitigate these risks. Additionally, he supported the Full Scale Demonstration Projects implemented within the program in negotiating with prospective financers to obtain financing that included foreign and local currency loans and/or guarantee facilities and other types of financing schemes.
Alan Dale is a Recipient of the 2009 CTI Clean Energy Financing Award. He is the first Winner of the CTI/PFAN Business Plan Competition in the Asia Forum on Clean Energy held in Singapore in March 2009. He is Recipient of the CSR Leadership Award from the 2013 World Marketing Summit in Malaysia.
Alan Dale holds a master’s degree in Engineering and an MBA, both from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Thailand.
